The pairings

STILL/ALIVE grew from an exploration of the relationship between sculpture and flora. Artists and floral designers were paired, and invited to respond to one another’s practices. Each collaboration became an exchange of ideas, materials, and ways of making, creating space for experimentation across disciplines.
Through a shared interest in form and transformation, both mediums hold the possibility for change shaped by their creators, their surroundings, and the seasons. The exhibition reveals how ideas can evolve through making and exchange.
Beauty exists in everyday life, and can be found in the rhythms of the calendar, thoughtful design, handmade objects, and the living landscapes that surround us. Attention brings these moments into focus and shapes how we experience them. STILL/ALIVE is a celebration of that attention, and the creativity that can blossom from it.

The Duo

STILL/ALIVE began as a conversation about what a city needs more of: beauty, nature, and places that invite people to pause.
Natasa Hansen (Toronto Flower Market) and Ash Mulvihill (9th Editions) share a belief that creativity has the power to bring people together and deepen our relationship with the world around us.
Drawing on backgrounds in contemporary art, design, placemaking, and community building, they created STILL/ALIVE as a platform where sculpture and floristry exist in conversation.
The exhibition and supporting programming is a space for discovery, collaboration, and the unexpected connections that happen when people and disciplines are brought together with care.
