SEPT 26: Immersive w/ Verundah @ 5:30PM - 8:30PM

Imaginative meditation, drawing and embroidery, built around collective memory and world building, we invite you to join us in a visualization exercise. 

As we draw breath, we guide you to imagine a vision of the future, of the world you want to be at the centre of.  Sink into the company of one another, we invite you to suspend disbelief and judgement in your abilities.

Immerse yourself in the practice of drawing what speaks to you, no frills, no expectations. These short, still life sessions are positioned to help each of you overcome the barrier and fear of creation, and really observe your surroundings from your unique point of view. You will be asked to hang your work side by side with each other, lending to the collective memory of our attempts at transcription of the beauty we see.

Following the still life warm-up session, we will provide materials for embroidery where you are invited to embroider onto heirloom photos you bring from home or choose from our moodboard. This source material can be anything you want to memorialize; a page from a book, or a poem you love if you have one. You will be offered instruction on techniques to stitch abstract floral motifs onto the photos. We will be asking you to invoke the connection you feel to these images and how they translate to an extension of the memory that the photo may hold. 

You take your finished works home to frame. No experience needed. 

What is included in the price: All materials. Drawing paper and media, photographs from our moodboard printed on stitch-able stock, an archive of images on clear film, embroidery floss, needles, hoops, and envelopes to carry your work home. Guided meditation and soundtrack included. Participants can bring their own photographs and a page of writing if they want to.

All ticket sales are final. Refunds will not be issued as we spend a dedicated amount of time and resources to prepare for each STILL/ALIVE event.
